Former UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov feels that Charles Oliveira will not show up in Abu Dhabi for UFC 280 in October.
Khabib expressed his opinion on Twitter today and noted that UFC might be forced to replace Charles Oliveira with Beneil Dariush. Irrespective of the same, Khabib noted that Islam Makhachev is set to become the World Champion of UFC 280.
“I just think Charles Oliveira will not show up in Abu Dhabi and the UFC will replace Charles with Beneil Dariush. Regardless of who the opponent will be, @MAKHACHEVMMA is on his way to becoming the best in the world,” Khabib wrote on his official Twitter page.
Interestingly, Beneil Dariush will be on the main card of UFC 280 and is scheduled to fight Mateusz Gamrot. He had also revealed that he will be a backup for the Oliveira vs. Makhachev fight.
Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira are set to fight for the UFC Lightweight title in the main event of UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. Oliveira was stripped of the title prior to his fight against Justin Gaethje after missing weight by a half pound. The Brazilian then went on to finish Gaethje and has made his intentions clear to recapture the UFC Lightweight title.
Islam Makhachev, on the other hand, is considered the next champion by many and is backed by none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov. He is on an impressive winning streak at the moment and will be looking to bring back the UFC Lightweight title to Dagestan once again.
The fans are already split on the matchup and it is bound to be an interesting showdown when Islam and Charles finally step into the Octagon. Who do you think will win in the main event of UFC 280? Let us know in the comments below.
