India's Owais Yaqoob extended his winning streak to six fights with a dominant first-round technical knockout victory over Bulgaria's Delyan Georgiev at BRAVE CF 107 on Aug. 1 before immediately calling for a shot at the promotion's lightweight championship.
Competing at Burgas Arena, Yaqoob controlled the 68-kilogram catchweight contest from the opening bell, applying constant forward pressure while mixing sharp striking combinations that prevented Georgiev from finding any rhythm.
The 28-year-old landed a crushing left hook that dropped the Bulgarian before finishing the fight with a barrage of ground-and-pound. The referee stopped the bout at the 4-minute mark of the opening round, giving Yaqoob another emphatic victory in his rise through the BRAVE Combat Federation ranks.
Following the win, Yaqoob wasted little time making his intentions clear, calling out reigning BRAVE CF Lightweight World Champion Abdisalam "Omok" Uulu Kubanychbek and stating his desire to compete for the organization's 155-pound title.
The victory further strengthens Yaqoob's case for a championship opportunity. His six-fight winning streak has been marked by consistent improvements in striking, composure and fight management, with each performance reinforcing his status as one of BRAVE CF's top lightweight contenders.
Kubanychbek has established himself as one of the promotion's premier champions, but Yaqoob's recent run has placed him firmly in the title conversation. His latest performance in Bulgaria added another highlight to an increasingly impressive résumé.
Whether BRAVE CF grants Yaqoob a title shot in his next appearance remains to be seen. However, after another dominant finish on one of the promotion's biggest international stages, the Indian standout has strengthened his claim to challenge for lightweight gold.
