Nate Diaz is all set to fight Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279. Diaz was initially scheduled to fight Khamzat Chimaev in the main event but the fight was called off after Khamzat missed weight by nearly 8 pounds.
Khamzat was eventually bumped to the co-main event where he will now fight Kevin Holland. While Nate made weight and stepped up to fight Tony Ferguson, he went off on former UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev.

In an interview given after his weigh-in, Diaz noted that Khabib Nurmagomedov was scared of fighting Tony Ferguson just like Khamzat Chimaev was scared of fighting in the UFC 279 main event. He also noted that the real G’s of the fight game come from California.
“Khabib's bitch-ass was afraid of [Tony] in the same way [Khamzat] is afraid of me ... Real G's come from California. America mother**ker,” Nate Diaz noted.
Nate Diaz has crossed paths with Khabib Nurmagomedov in the past as well with the two almost entering in an altercation a few years back. Nate has been critical of Khabib for a long time and doubled down on the same with his comments ahead of UFC 279.
In the same interview, Diaz also noted that the fight between him and Tony Ferguson was supposed to happen a long time back and shared his respect for Ferguson.
As for Khamzat, he will now be fighting Kevin Holland in the co-main event of UFC 279. He will be looking to keep his undefeated record intact and get closer to a title shot when he fights Holland.
