ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II will feature a showdown between Cypriot star Savvas Michael and ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon when it goes down live on 27 August at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The two strikers will meet in the semifinals of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix after both men earned their spots with dominant performances in the quarterfinal round earlier this year.

Michael is confident ahead of his matchup with the Thai superstar. Despite their differing levels of experience, he is looking forward to showing his best side against one of the most fearsome strikers on the planet.

“I just want Rodtang to know that I believe in myself. I wouldn’t have signed the contract if I didn’t feel like I can beat him. Signing it means I come to win," he said.

“I’m not worried. I’m just excited to train and perform come fight day. It’s my time to shine now, and I want to prove to the world that I’m one of the best."

The 23-year-old fighter is taking a cautious approach to his upcoming showdown. He recognizes the skill set that Rodtang will be bringing to the Circle but believes he’ll be able to find a way through him when they square off.

“Rodtang is a champion because he rarely makes mistakes. I think it’s going to just be one of those fights where you have to be 100 percent prepared and avoid making the first mistake,” Michael said.

“I do know him personally, and he’s a good guy. But when we fight, I’m going to go there and do my job. It’s a big fight, and I’ll figure out a way to win once I’m there.”

“The Baby Face Killer” showcased his superb striking against Amir Naseri in the opening round of the illustrious tournament. He worked his way around his Malaysian-Iranian foe and dropped heavy strikes and kicks to score a unanimous decision victory.

Michael will be looking to keep the momentum going in his next fight and beyond it, and he’s surrounding himself with “The Iron Man” to prepare himself to face him head-on.

“I have a picture of [Rodtang] at home. He’s the first person I see [when I get up], just for that extra motivation. There’s no Plan B. He’s the man in my division now, and I want to beat him. As soon as I wake up, I already feel motivated to train once I see his picture,” he said.

“All I see is Rodtang. And I see a W.”
