It has been announced that Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Savvas Michael will step into battle at ONE 161: Moraes vs. Johnson II as part of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix semifinals.
The 26 August card is building to be one of the best that the promotion has put on this year, and there is extra excitement for this one, given that the event will air live in U.S. primetime when it goes down at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Up to this point, the Grand Prix has been an incredibly exciting affair. The quarterfinals provided ample evidence of the extraordinary talent that the flyweight Muay Thai division has when they took place at ONE 157 in May – and the next round is guaranteed to entertain.
Savvas Michael outclassed his foe Amir Naseri in their quarterfinal battle. The 23-year-old shocked fans when he bullied Naseri – an Omnoi Stadium World Champion – for most of their bout. By the end of the three rounds, “The Baby Face Killer” was handed a unanimous decision win that booked him a showdown with the divisional king.

His outstanding quarterfinal performance earned Micheal praise from fans and peers alike, including Muay Thai legend Liam Harrison, who pegged him as the man to beat. This accolade puts pressure on Rodtang to put on a convincing performance when the two men meet.
“The Iron Man” had a straightforward path to the tournament semifinals. The Thai phenom dominated England’s Jacob Smith throughout their quarterfinal bout to score a unanimous decision win, and he’ll hope to further cement his dominance in the division by taking out his Cypriot rival on 26 August.
The winner of Michael versus Rodtang will battle the victor of the second semifinal between Superlek Kiatmoo9 versus Walter Goncalves in the Grand Prix final. No date for the showdown between the Thai sensation and Brazilian brawler has been announced, but fans are already expecting a barnburner when they meet.
