Jarred Brooks and Joshua Pacio locked horns once again in the ONE Championship circle at ONE 166 in Qatar.

The fight did not last long as the referee stopped the action in the first round itself. Brooks thought he had won the fight but what happened instead was he got disqualified for spiking Joshua Pacio while trying to slam the Filipino in the exchange which kickstarted the fight. As a result of the disqualification, Pacio was crowned as the new champion.

Brooks came into the fight on a seven-fight winning streak and has been unstoppable in ONE Championship after his run in UFC and Bellator. Pacio on the other hand, came into the fight on the back of a win over Mansur Malachiev which got him the title shot.

Jarred Brooks and Joshua Pacio last fought back in December 2022. The fight saw Brooks picking up a win via unanimous decision. The fight also marked the end of Pacio’s reign on top of the ONE Strawweight division and the rise of Jarred Brooks as the new champion.

ONE 166 happened at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar and featured the Title fight between Reinier De Ridder and Anatoly Malykhin as the main event. Earlier in the night, the fight between Arjan Bhullar and Amir Aliakbari had a controversial ending when Arjan Bhullar was given a red card and subsequently disqualified from the fight.
