The Mixed Martial Arts India Federation (MMA India) and the Tajikistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (TAJMMAF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of MMA in both countries.
The MOU was signed in Tajikistan during the 2022 IMMAF Asian MMA Championship. MMA India was represented by MMA India President Sharif Bapu while TAJMMAF was represented by their president Davron Jurov.
The arrangement will focus on the growth of the sport in both countries.
“The purpose of this Memorandum of Cooperation is to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation in the field of mixed martial arts (MMA) on the basis of the principles of equality, mutual respect, sovereignty and mutual benefit, and in accordance with the national laws of of the Parties and the rules of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF),” the MOU read.
As part of the same, the countries will exchange documentation, information and cooperation in professional coaching and management. The federations are also planning to hold and finance joint events while also hosting seminars and conferences.
Tajikistan impressed during the recent 2022 IMMAF Asian MMA championship as the country topped the Junior Medal Table. The hosts also finished third in the seniors' standings with 4 Gold Medals, 5 Silver medals and 9 Bronze medals behind Bahrain and Kazakhstan.

On the other hand, India had a good showing, having secured four medals at the championship. The team won three bronze medals in the senior category and finished 6th in the table while securing a silver medal in the junior category and finished 6th as well.
