Team Lakay star Stephen Loman says that he would never quit if he was to fight ONE Bantamweight champion Fabricio Andrade.
'Wonder Boy' Fabricio Andrade was pummeling 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker with punches and kicks in the main event of ONE Fight Night 7 on Amazon Video. The fight was stopped in the middle of the rounds by Lineker's corner, making Andrade the new ONE bantamweight world champion.
A fight can be stopped by a corner to prevent further injury to the athlete. Fighters are renowned for being tough and fearless beyond the call of duty. Having saying that, a corner must occasionally intervene.
Speaking to MMA Superfan, Stephen Loman said that he would have wanted to end the fight in his own terms.
"If I was in a similar spot, I would do my best to finish the fight. Because chances to compete for the world title don’t come often. Whatever happens, I’ll find a way to end the fight impressively. I would go back to my corner and tell my coaches to let me finish the fight on my own terms,” Loman said (h/t Sportskeeda).
Fabricio Andrade, the newly minted ONE bantamweight world champion, won't be able to enjoy his victory for too long because a strong opponent is coming up next.
Stephen Loman has won 11 straight fights, including one over former world champion Bibiano Fernandes. Later this year, Andrade and Loman's highly awaited fight for the bantamweight championship is likely to be seen by MMA fans.
The fight between Loman and Andrade is expected to be a fun one for the fans considering the skill set that both the fighters bring to the table. Loman, who was already a champion at BRAVE Combat Federation, will be looking to reign as champion in another major promotion when he fights Andrade.
