Just moments after winning the ONE Bantamweight World Championship, Fabricio Andrade (9-2) has Team Lakay's Stephen Loman in his sights (16-2).
After defeating John Lineker in Saturday's ONE Fight Night 7 in Bangkok, an emotional Andrade called out the Filipino competitor.
"You all know we got a contender in line. Loman, you want this? Come get it." Andrade said after the win.
As he finally won the title in their second encounter through TKO before the last round could begin due to a corner stoppage, Andrade was declared the winner in what some may describe a delayed victory against Lineker.
When they first met in October 2022, Andrade appeared to be winning the fight before Lineker was incapacitated with an unintentional knee to the crotch and the fight was ruled a no contest.
Andrade wants to make a rapid turnaround against Loman, who was also the bantamweight champion in his last company, as he starts his reign.
Andrade also expressed his happiness at finally winning the championship after waiting for months.
"I have no words to explain what this means to me, you know? It's been like such a long journey, so many hard things that I've been through in my life with the dream to get here and become world champion to be able to change my life and my family's life you know? It's unbelievable. I don't know how to explain how I'm feeling." he added via Philstar.
Loman, who started his career in 2021 with ONE Championship, is currently 3-0 in the Singapore promotion.
When the Baguio-based fighter defeated former champion Bibiano Fernandes by unanimous decision in ONE Fight Night 4 in November of last year, he solidified his status as a contender for the title.
