My son started training at 3 years of age, says Khabib Nurmagomedov

It appears like Khabib Nurmagomedov's son has a future in combat sports. 'The Eagle' stated in a recent interview with Red Corner MMA at Eagle FC 51 that his son has been wrestling and gymnastics training since he was three-and-a-half years old.

"My son is already training [wrestling] and doing gymnastics. He has a good coach that I trust. He already trains in Makhachkala. He started earlier than I did, at three-and-a-half years of age,” Khabib said in a recent interview with was posted on Red Corner MMA.

When the reporters asked him about who was training his son, Khabib revealed that he himself is coaching his son.

"You have a better candidate than me? I'll be coaching him,” Khabib added.

Many of 'The Eagle's' comrades have successful MMA careers. Usman Nurmagomedov, his cousin and AKA teammate, is the current Bellator lightweight champion. Umar Nurmagomedov, the 34-year-second old's cousin, is a top 15 UFC bantamweight with an undefeated record of 15-0.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is widely regarded as one of the best fighters to ever compete in the UFC. The Dagestan native retired with a 29-0 record and three title defences.

Khabib Nurmagomedov does not now work as a full-time MMA instructor, although he does train some of his teammates and friends.

'The Eagle' has cornered battles for Islam Makhachev, Umar Nurmagomedov, Usman Nurmagomedov, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov since retiring from MMA last year.

At UFC 267, the undefeated Russian also cornered Tagin Ulanbekov in his battle against Allan Nascimento. After three rounds, Ulanbekov won by decision. Khabib is also scheduled to corner Islam Makhachev in a couple of hours for his lightweight clash against Dan Hooker.

While Khabib Nurmagomedov's relatives are Umar, Usman, and Abubakar, Makhachev has been his comrade and friend from infancy. This year, Khabib has a flawless coaching record, with the aforementioned fighters yet to lose with 'The Eagle' in their corner.
