Islam Makhachev plans to knock down and finish Charles Oliveira

Islam Makhachev is planning to finish Charles Oliveira in the ground. The Russian MMA star revealed his game plan recently in an interview with The National.

Islam said that he is not scared of the Jiu-Jitsu that Charles Oliveira brings to the table and added that people have not tried to finish Charles on the ground.

“His last three or four opponents, they knock him down and nobody goes to grappling. Nobody tried to finish him there. Nobody tried to do some ground-and-pound. That’s why nobody from these opponents could stop him,” Makhachev said in the interview.

He also went on to add that he is planning to take the record that Charles Oliveira has for the most number of finishes.

“But I’m not scared of his jiu-jitsu skills because I have good skills in Sambo and grappling and will give him a hard time in striking. That’s why I’m going to knock him down and try to finish him. Because this guy has most finishes in the UFC, my goal is I have to finish him. I’m going to take his record,” Makhachev added.

Oliveira is dangerous

While Islam is confident that he can finish Oliveira, he admits that the Brazilian is dangerous. He also added that he is ready to fight standing up or on the ground.

“Charles is very dangerous. He always finishes his opponent, and he’s dangerous in the striking and on the ground. But I believe in my skills. I’m ready for the fight standing up or on the ground – it doesn’t matter,” he added in the interview.
