Former two-division king Aung La N Sang was immediately interested in ONE Championship's first-ever live event on American soil. Fortunately, his wish was granted.
On May 5, "The Burmese Python" will square off against Chinese phenom Fan Rong in a critical middleweight MMA match at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video, which will be televised live from Colorado's 1stBank Center.
While the Myanmar sports icon has become accustomed to competing in the organization's biggest shows throughout Asia, he lives and trains in Florida, so he's delighted to skip a full day of travel to fight in the United States for the first time in his nine-year promotional career.
More significantly, he's excited to perform live in front of a rowdy American audience.
“It’s going to be cool to fight in front of my family, in front of some of the U.S. fans. I’m excited to put on a great show. It’s going to be exciting,” he said in an interview with ONE Championship.
Though he is delighted to perform for the American audience, Aung La N Sang's main goal is to defeat Fan Rong at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video.
The former ONE Light Heavyweight and Middleweight World Champion is on a two-bout winning streak, with back-to-back first-round knockouts. And, if he had his way, he'd declare victory over China's "King Kong Warrior" on May 5 in one of the most outrageous ways imaginable.
“I’m looking for a finish. Honestly, I’m looking for a grand finish. If the submission is there, I’ll take it, but I’m not going to force anything. I’m just going to look to break him and outwork him. I’ll just break him,” Aung La added.
