Early on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at UFC 285 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dricus du Plessis continued his winning ways when he TKO'd veteran Derek Brunson in the second round (corner stoppage).
Early on, hard blows were delivered by both middleweights, with Brunson adding some grappling. Du Plessis demonstrated grit and tenacity to compel a dogfight. In the second round, Brunson began to tyre, which gave the South African fighter the opportunity to absolutely unload with powerful blows.
Brunson attempted to play it off, but du Plessis delivered vicious ground and pound once he hit the canvas, forcing the corner stoppage.

Du Plessis, 29, is currently 5-0 when competing for the UFC, recording four noteworthy victories. The middleweight contender typically needs to engage in an all-out battle to win, but he always triumphs. Du Plessis may start next week with a top 5 ranking and is now on the verge of being in contention for the title.
