Danielle Kelly recalls the time when she worked as a ring girl

ONE Championship star Danielle Kelly is one of the most popular names in the grappling circuit at the moment. After joining ONE Championship, Kelly has been rising the ranks at a fast pace but it was not always sunshine and rainbows for the grappler.

 During a recent interview with ONE Championship, Danielle Kelly recalled the time when she worked as a ring girl to meet the ends.

“When I was doing ring girl-ing, for me, I was in a weird time in my life. And I wasn’t getting the proper training. So, it was hard for me to, like, focus on the fighting or Jiu-Jitsu aspects. I got asked to do the ring girl thing so, like, why not. And I get to watch all the fights and it would be super motivating. But you know, at the time, like, my coach wasn’t really helping me,” Kelly noted in the interview.

Speaking further about being a ring girl, Kelly noted that she would rather be inside the cage these days than outside it.

“Look, would I do it now? No. Because I’d rather go in the cage and choke girls out, not pull up a sign. But that’s me. Like, I will never judge anyone else’s life or like girls who are doing that. You know, good for them, they get paid for it. But for me, it was a bad time,” the grappler noted.

She also credits Jiu Jitsu for changing her life upside down.

“I just had a really rough spot in my life. I met some of the greatest people in the sport who I call my family. So now, I look back, I can’t really see what I would do without Jiu-Jitsu,” she said.
