Danielle Kelly interested in Rose Namajunas match after win over Carla Esparza

Danielle Kelly and UFC champion Rose Namajunas were set to lock horns in the main event of Fury Grappling 3 this past weekend. However, a last-minute glitch forced Namajunas out of the match.

UFC title contender Carla Esparza stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Namajunas and ended up suffering a loss to Kelly due to an accidental headbutt. With a win over Esparza on her resume, Kelly is now looking forward to a battle with Namajunas.

Kelly expressed her interest today through her Instagram story. The grappler shared a post from bjj.worldtv asking whether Danielle Kelly vs. Rose Namajunas is the match to make next and added her own comment ‘Umm yes, Don’t slam me plz’.

The 26-year-old BJJ phenom already holds victories over names like Roxanne Modafferi and Cynthia Calvillo. A showdown with Namajunas is bound to be a huge step for Kelly and the matchup had evoked a lot of interest in the BJJ and MMA community.

Namajunas, on the other hand, is expected to fight Esparza for the UFC Strawweight title in 2022 but no dates have been confirmed yet by the UFC. She is currently on a three-fight winning streak in MMA having secured two wins over Zhang Weili and a win over Jessica Andrade.
