Cynthia Calvillo has been released from the UFC after her loss at UFC 287.

The seasoned strawweight and flyweight competitor's contract was terminated after she lost to Loopy Godinez by a split decision at UFC 287 over the weekend.

After only three professional fights prior to joining the UFC, Calvillo, 35, won three straight matches, including a victory over Joanne Wood and Pearl Gonzalez. At UFC 219 in 2017, she lost to former strawweight champion Carla Esparza after a close contest.

With two more victories and a majority draw against Marina Rodriguez, Calvillo recovered, but she was having trouble losing enough weight to compete at strawweight. Her move up to flyweight, where she made an immediate impression with a victory over former championship challenger Jessica Eye, was prompted by the fact that she missed weight in two out of her three fights.

Sadly, that was the final time Calvillo triumphed in the octagon. After the contest, she lost five fights, including defeats to Katlyn Chookagian, Jessica Andrade, and Andrea Lee.

Even though Calvillo and Godinez fought to a razor-thin split decision, she still lost the contest, which resulted in her termination from the UFC.

The 35-year-old Cynthia started her MMA career back in 2012. She competed across the Amateur MMA circuit for the next two years and turned professional in 2016. After competing at Global Knockout and LFA 1, Cynthia made her UFC debut in 2017 at UFC 209.

She has been part of the UFC ever since. Over the years, Cynthia fought names like Pearl Gonzalez, Joanne Wood, Poliana Botelho, Cortney Casey among others. She had also fought Aspen Ladd during her run in the Amateur MMA circuit.

Cynthia is currently 9-6 in her professional MMA career and has 1 draw in her career. Of her nine wins, she has 2 KO/TKO and 3 submission wins.
