BRAVE Combat Federation will crown a new Light Heavyweight champion at BRAVE CF 88 on September 28, as European MMA superstar Erko Jun faces German knockout artist Alexander Wesner in the main event.
This will be the fifth Light Heavyweight title fight in BRAVE CF history, and it is shaping up to be the biggest in the division to date. Two fighters have previously held the belt: Klidson Abreu, who became the inaugural champion at BRAVE CF 8, and Mohammad Fakhreddine, who won the title at BRAVE CF 57. Former titleholder Mohamed Said Maalem briefly held the belt before his title win at BRAVE CF 52 was overturned due to illegal strikes, leaving the title vacant.
Now, Jun and Wesner will battle to become the third Light Heavyweight champion in the promotion's history.
Jun, one of Europe's top MMA stars, enters the fight on a five-fight win streak, with two consecutive first-round knockouts in BRAVE CF. He secured his title shot after defeating former challenger Said Maalem in his last outing.
Wesner, younger and faster than Jun, is also riding a five-fight win streak, with four finishes. A Middleweight champion outside of BRAVE CF, Wesner is regarded as one of Germany’s top fighters, having recently stopped 50-fight veteran Guilherme Cadena.
In addition to the Light Heavyweight title bout, BRAVE CF 88 will feature the inaugural Heavyweight title fight in the co-main event, with Pavel Dailidko facing Azamat Nuftillaev.
BRAVE CF 88 marks the organization’s return to Slovenia following BRAVE CF 81 earlier this year.
