Indian boxers Nutlai Lalbiakkima and Sandeep Singh are all set to lock horns for the IBA Intercontinental title fight on 6 August 2021 in Mumbai. The announcement was made by Marine Pro Boxing Promotions last day. The fight will be fought at Minimumweight.
The IBA title was held by names like Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, and Roy Jones Junior many others.
Nutlai Lalbiakkima, who had an impressive amateur career, is currently 1-0 in his professional boxing career having picked up a win in his debut at Marine Pro Boxing Promotions against Aman. His much-awaited professional debut happened back in December 2020 in Mumbai and it was a TKO win for the Mizo Boxer who had defeated Hasanboy Dusmatov during his amateur run.
Sandeep Singh, on the other hand, is also 1-0-1 in his career. He made his professional boxing debut back in 2019 against Aman under the Marine Pro Boxing Promotions banner and picked up a majority decision victory. This followed up with a draw against Amit in the same year.
The showdown between Nutlai and Sandeep was supposed to happen earlier this year but the same was postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The pandemic had hit the sporting circuit in India hardly as a long list of events were either postponed or canceled.
Marine Pro Boxing Promotions had recently returned to action with the All-Stars Boxing Championships in Mumbai. The IBA Title event will happen behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 restrictions that are in place.
Also on the card is the IBA Asia title fight featuring Vimal Punera of Uttarakhand and Hansraj of Uttar Pradesh. Vimal Punera is 4-1 at the moment when Hansraj is 2-3 having picked up a win in his last fight.
The card is expected to feature many more interesting names like Kamal Kant, Sagar Salunke, Bikram Priyar, Vanteddu Vinod, Inderjeet Singh, Payal Sharma among others.
