Indian Boxers Vimal Punera and Hansraj are set to fight for the IBA Asia Title on August 6, 2021, in Mumbai. Marine Pro Boxing Promotions made the announcement last day through their social media pages and the fight between Vimal and Hansraj will take place in the Flyweight category.
The IBA title was held by names like Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, and Roy Jones Junior many others.
Vimal, hailing from Uttarakhand has been a mainstay in Marine Pro Boxing Promotions and holds a professional record of 4-1 to his name. After suffering a defeat in his debut fight, Vimal is currently riding high on a four-fight winning streak with his latest win coming against Vimal Kumar back in December 2020 in Mumbai.
Hansraj, meanwhile, is 2-3 in his professional boxing career. He made his professional boxing debut back in 2019 against Abhilash Raut and had faced Vimal Punera in his second fight back in the same year. It was Vimal that came out on top at that time but Hansraj has managed to pick up two wins after this showdown with his latest coming against Mohit Singh in December 2020.
The showdown between Vimal and Hansraj was supposed to happen earlier this year but the same was postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The pandemic had hit the sporting circuit in India hardly as a long list of events were either postponed or canceled.
Marine Pro Boxing Promotions had recently returned to action with the All-Stars Boxing Championships in Mumbai. The IBA Title event will happen behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 restrictions that are in place.
The card is expected to feature many more interesting names like Kamal Kant, Sagar Salunke, Bikram Priyar, Vanteddu Vinod, Inderjeet Singh, Payal Sharma among others.
