Mark Sangiao breaks down the loss of Lito Adiwang against Jarred Brooks

Jarred Brooks made an impressive entry into ONE Championship recently as he managed to outclass Team Lakay star Lito Adiwang at ONE: NEXT GEN II.

Brooks, who was making his promotional debut at the event, managed to submit Adiwang in the second round and pushed his case for a title showdown with Adiwang’s teammate and reigning champion Joshua Pacio.

Despite the loss, Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao feels that there were many lessons that the team learned from the defeat of Adiwang.

"Lito knew that he could finish Jarred and he just needed to consume Jarred's energy, and we believe that energy was almost out.  It just so happened that Lito went to a wrong position and that ended the match differently from what we wanted,” Sangiao said [h/t ABS CBN News]

He further went on to assure that there is more to come from Adiwang and that the match with Jarred would be a great addition to his resume.

"Lito has a lot of potential and we are all witnesses of what he can pull off inside the cage. This match against Jarred is another indispensable learning lesson that will push us to upgrade, and believe me, this is still not Lito's best version because he has a lot more to offer through time and experience," Sangiao added.

Sangiao also gave his thoughts on the potential showdown between Pacio and Brooks in the future.

“We always see a new player as a new threat but a positive threat. When you face an unfamiliar threat, what do you do? You deal with it, you equip yourself and by doing so, you become better. Jarred is a driver for our athletes to keep growing,” he concluded.
