India’s young boxers put on an impressive show at the Asian U22 and U19 Boxing Championships in Bangkok, returning home with a combined 27 medals, including four golds, in a campaign that highlighted the country’s growing strength in youth boxing.
In the U22 category, Ritika (52kg) claimed gold after an outstanding performance in the final against her Kazakh opponent. Her victory stood out as the only gold for India in this division. The team also secured five silver medals through Yatri Patel (57kg), Priya (60kg), Neeraj (75kg), Ishan Kataria (90+kg), and another standout performer. Additionally, several boxers earned bronze medals, bringing India’s total U22 tally to 13.
The U19 team outshone expectations by winning three gold medals. Nisha (57kg), Muskan (75kg), and Rahul Kundu (92kg) each emerged victorious in their respective finals. Alongside these triumphs, Indian boxers claimed multiple silver and bronze medals to finish with 14 in the U19 section.

The competition saw strong participation from top Asian nations such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, and Thailand, making India’s achievement even more notable. Coaches and officials praised the athletes for their discipline, preparation, and resilience throughout the tournament.

As the sport continues to gain momentum in the country, performances like these strengthen hopes for future international success, including at the Asian Games and Olympic qualifiers.
