Jhanlo Sangiao made an impressive ONE Championship debut recently when he submitted Paul Lumihi in the first-round at ONE: Winter Warriors II.

Jhanlo had a lot of pressure on his shoulders ahead of the fight due to the fact that he is part of Team Lakay and most importantly due to him being the son of Team Lakay founder and Head coach Mark Sangiao. With Jhanlo coping with the same and getting a win, it has given Mark Sangiao a reason to smile.

Speaking to Sportskeeda after the event, Mark Sangiao recalled what it was like to corner his son for his ONE Championship debut.

"I really wanted to feel what it was like to coach my son and I noticed that I am more aggressive with him. I was even more aggressive with my reactions during the fight. In all aspects, I also want to see his development. Aside from being excited and nervous for him, I just noticed I’m more aggressive,” Sangiao said.

He further went on to add that Jhanlo showed good composure ahead of his big ONE Championship debut.

"From the dugout to backstage and heading to the fight, he is very composed. That surprised me. I think he got it from me. I was a fighter before so yeah, maybe it came from me," the Team Lakay head coach added.
