UFC 305: Dricus Du Plessis vs Israel Adesanya announced as the main event

In a recent appearance on The Jim Rome Show, UFC CEO Dana White officially announced that the middleweight title will be contested at UFC 305 in Perth, Australia. The bout will feature current champion Dricus Du Plessis defending his title against former champion Israel Adesanya.

"August 17 in Perth. Now it's official," White stated.

This match will be Du Plessis's first title defense since he captured the belt from Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in Toronto last January. Adesanya will strive to become the first fighter since Randy Couture to achieve three separate title reigns in the same division.

UFC 305 is scheduled to take place at Perth's RAC Arena on August 17. This event marks the third UFC Pay-Per-View hosted in Perth, following UFC 221: Romero vs. Rockhold in February 2018 and the record-breaking UFC 284: Makhachev vs. Volkanovski in February 2023.
