UFC 288 sees Sterling retain the title
Inside the octagon, Aljamain Sterling retained the UFC bantamweight title with a win over Henry Cejudo.
After a three-year hiatus, Henry Cejudo returned to the Octagon to reclaim a title he'd never lost. Aljamain Sterling made sure he didn't get his hands on the gold at UFC 288.
Sterling defended his bantamweight title with a split decision over Cejudo on Saturday, with two judges scoring the bout 48-47 in favour of the champion. Cejudo won the bout 48-47 on the third judge's scorecard.
Sterling (23-3) has won nine consecutive bouts. After winning the title via disqualification from Petr Yan at UFC 259 in March 2021, the Long Island, New York native has had three successful title defences at bantamweight. Sterling, 33, now owns the most victories in UFC bantamweight history (14), as well as the longest active winning streak (nine).
