UFC returned with UFC 288 this weekend, and the pay-per-view offered plenty of action.

The main event saw Henry Cejudo going up against Aljamain Sterling for the UFC Bantamweight title. Cejudo picked up from where he left off three years ago and was causing problems for Sterling in the early rounds. The reigning champion, however, had no intentions of giving up. After three rounds, the MMA fan community was split on who was on top as both fighters were bringing out their best. The fourth and fifth round, although went slow-paced, had a fair amount of action with Sterling seemingly having a slight upper hand. In the end, the judges scored the fight in favor of champion Aljamain Sterling who retained the title via a split decision.

In the co-main event, Belal Muhammad outclassed Gilbert Burns. The fighter took the fight on short notice and went through five rounds before the judges ruled the fight in favour of Muhammad via a unanimous decision. With the win, Belal has pushed his case for a Welterweight title fight.

Yan Xiaonan did quick work of Jessica Andrade on the main card as she knocked out the Brazilian in the first round. The Chinese MMA fighter has positioned herself as a favourite to challenge Zhang Weili next for the UFC Strawweight title.

Movsar Evloev and Diego Lopes delivered a memorable fight which saw Evloev picking up a decision victory. In the opening fight of the UFC 288 main card, Charles Jourdain dominated Kron Gracie. Gracie’s performance earned a lot of criticism even though he was returning after a long gap.
