Tayfun Ozcan is in the final stages of preparation for his unexpected ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title fight against divisional king Superbon Singha Mawynn at ONE Fight Night 2: Xiong vs. Lee III this Saturday, 1 October.

Ozcan got the call to replace Chingiz Allazov at the upcoming spectacle after the Azerbaijani-Belarussian star was forced to pull out due to injury.

The Dutch-Turkish star was scheduled to face Marat Grigorian earlier on the card, but after a shakeup to the stacked lineup, he has tweaked his game plan and is now excited to take on a very different opponent in the evening’s co-main event.

“It has been a rollercoaster because I was preparing for Marat. It will be a whole different game plan against Superbon. I was preparing for someone who was going to attack me, and now I will have to be the one to put on pressure,” Ozcan said.

The #5-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender has an intimidating challenge ahead of him, however. Superbon is one of the baddest strikers on the planet, and his 12-fight win streak would cause any fighter to think twice about stepping into action against him.

Despite his fierce reputation, Ozcan believes that he can be the man to end the Thai superstar’s reign at the top of the stacked division – though he thinks he will have to work hard for it.

“My prediction is that it will be a very nice fight, a hard fight that will go five rounds. We will see who is going to win,” he said.

“He is on a good winning streak, but nothing is impossible. So, I will be glad to stop the ‘unstoppable’ Superbon. I will be glad to cut his winning streak.”

Ozcan’s self-belief is certainly not unfounded. The 31-year-old is known for his boxing abilities and high-pressure style, and this bodes well for his clash with the powerful kicks and stylistic footwork of the World Champion.

“Turbine” currently holds a record of 84-9-3, with his latest victory coming against Enriko Kehl at ONE: FULL CIRCLE. On top of this, he entered ONE on a 13-fight win streak and was a two-division Enfusion World Champion. So, he knows how to get the job done.

Ozcan is ready to take his shot at the gold, and he believes this is a battle that viewers will be intrigued to watch when it goes down at ONE Fight Night 2.

“This is a great match. It is also a fight that fans from around the world want to see because he fought some guys that I have beaten. It will be a nice fight,” he said.

Catch all the action at ONE Fight Night 2 on Disney+ Hotstar and Star Sports Select 1 at 5:30 a.m. India Standard Time (IST) on Saturday, 1 October. The main card will follow on Disney+ Hotstar and Star Sports Select 1 at 7:30 a.m. IST.
