Starting with BJJ

Born on June 14, 1992, Viana hails from São Geraldo do Araguaia, a small town in the Pará region of Brazil. Raised by her mother, she discovered her passion for martial arts and embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of combat sports.

Viana began her training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 2013 and swiftly made her professional mixed martial arts debut later that year. Her dedication and talent led her to the prestigious UFC, where she would face some of the toughest opponents in the sport.

Debut in the UFC

On February 3, 2018, at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Anders, Viana made her UFC debut against Maia Stevenson. In a dominant display of her skills, she secured a victory via a rear-naked choke in the first round.

Continuing her UFC journey, Viana was scheduled to fight JJ Aldrich at UFC 227 in August 2018. Despite her efforts, she suffered a loss via unanimous decision as Aldrich out-boxed her throughout the fight.

In her next bout, Viana faced Hannah Cifers at UFC 235. The fight was closely contested, with both fighters giving their all. Ultimately, Viana lost by split decision, highlighting the toughness and competitiveness of the Strawweight division.

Viana's next opponent was Veronica Macedo at UFC Fight Night: Shevchenko vs. Carmouche 2. Originally scheduled to face Rachael Ostovich, Viana stepped in as a replacement. To her surprise, Macedo submitted her via armbar, marking the first submission loss of Viana's career.

Scheduled to face Emily Whitmire at UFC 248 on March 8, 2020, Viana encountered an unfortunate turn of events. Whitmire missed weight and was hospitalized on the day of the event, resulting in the cancellation of their fight. However, they eventually faced off on August 29, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 175 in a flyweight bout. Viana secured a victory with a first-round armbar submission.

Continuing the run in the UFC

Viana's next challenge came in the form of Mallory Martin on February 13, 2021, at UFC 258. With her trademark armbar technique, Viana swiftly finished the fight in the first round, earning herself the Performance of the Night award.
