In a recent development, ONE Pride MMA, the leading Indonesian mixed martial arts organization, has expressed its keen interest in the Indian MMA scene. This move comes as a result of the successful selection of Anshul Jubli in the prestigious Road to UFC program. Recognizing the immense potential of Indian fighters, ONE Pride MMA has taken the initiative to provide them with more opportunities and exposure in the world of professional MMA.
The collaboration between ONE Pride MMA and the Indian MMA community was facilitated through discussions during Anshul Jubli's final fight. Recognizing the need for Indian fighters to gain more experience before entering Road to UFC, the idea of partnering with ONE Pride MMA emerged.
Fransino Tirta, the head of ONE Pride, has shown remarkable cooperation and enthusiasm in growing MMA in this region. Together, they aim to introduce Indian fighters to the ONE Pride roster and foster their development in the sport.
Earlier, Indian MMA fighter Sunny Khatri had fought at ONE Pride MMA against then-champion Gunawan. The fight ended in a controversial decision win for Gunawan which sparked debates online.
And now, India’s Govind Ale would be stepping into the ONE Pride Cage next as he has been pushed to fight at the promotion by Somesh Kamra, who is currently working with ONE Pride MMA.
When asked about the selection process, Somesh said, "We had to see which fighters are free agents and in the form to prove their mettle at the highest level. Most people do not know that the level of fighters in One Pride is very high... We felt Govind was the guy to represent India and put on a show for the Indonesians."
Govind Ale, a promising Indian fighter, will soon make his mark in the ONE Pride MMA promotion, providing a platform for him to showcase his skills, represent India, and entertain the audience.
Speaking further about the selection process, Somesh noted that Indian fighters would benefit from a platform like ONE Pride MMA.
“I personally feel jumping from a small Indian promotion to the UFC or PFL is too much of an experience juggle for the fighters to fathom. Look what happened to Vikas Ruhil in PFL, Pawan Maan in Road to UFC. I feel they were pushed into deeper waters earlier than their time. This spoils the career of the fighters. They need to be built and moulded for the moment,” he added.
ONE Pride MMA aims to attract Indian fighters by offering them a stage to compete at the highest level of the sport. The organization recognizes the potential emerging from this region, as demonstrated by Jeka Saragih's success in Road to UFC Season 1. By providing a structured environment and strategic partnerships, ONE Pride MMA hopes to groom Indian fighters and help them realize their potential.
Highlighting the advantages of ONE Pride MMA, Somesh emphasized, "One Pride has an excellent non-bureaucratic management that genuinely looks at the benefit of the fighters."
This supportive environment, coupled with the organization's commitment to promoting Indian talent, sets them apart from other MMA promotions in Asia. Furthermore, efforts are underway to explore broadcasting options in India, allowing fans and enthusiasts to witness the exciting matches hosted by ONE Pride MMA.
The focus is on nurturing hungry and determined fighters who are willing to give their all in the pursuit of success. With determination and hard work as the starting qualities, ONE Pride MMA aims to build a strong foundation for Indian fighters, providing them with a stepping stone towards top-level promotions such as UFC, PFL, and more.
As the collaboration progresses, fans eagerly await the entry of Indian fighters into the ONE Pride MMA arena, bringing a new wave of excitement and talent to the sport.
