Women's MMA sensation Lucero “La Loba” Acosta (5-2) is set to make her return to the cage as she faces off against former world championship challenger Alejandra “Azul” Lara (9-7) in a three-round flyweight main event. The event is scheduled to take place live from Miami on Saturday, May 11, and will be broadcast on Fuse. Fuse holds the exclusive English-language rights to COMBATE GLOBAL MMA.

Acosta, 29, fighting out of San Diego with roots in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico, is making her eighth appearance in La Jaula, the COMBATE GLOBAL cage. Riding a three-fight win streak, Acosta is aiming for her fourth consecutive victory after securing a KO win against Italy’s Manuela Marconetto in the second round on December 17, 2023. Known as “La Loba,” Acosta has gained significant popularity on social media platforms, attracting millions of views with her content. Her rise as a formidable contender has been credited to her collaboration with 20-year veteran MMA and boxing trainer Nestor Flores since 2022.

On the other side of the octagon, Lara, also 29, fighting out of San Diego and hailing from Medellin, Colombia, seeks to reignite her career following her move to “America’s Finest City.” Training alongside stars like Phil Davis and Cat Zingano at 10th Planet San Diego Jiu Jitsu and Training Center, Lara aims to reclaim her status as a top contender. With notable matchups against the likes of Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Lena Ovchynnikova, Lara brings experience and determination to the bout.

“This fight between ‘La Loba’ and ‘Azul’ Lara is between two of the most celebrated women’s mixed martial artists in the Americas, and we look forward to it being the most watched women’s fight in MMA history,” said COMBATE GLOBAL CEO Campbell McLaren.

The event will also feature a highly anticipated co-main event between unbeaten rivals Mauricio Rios (4-0) and Tony “The Conqueror” Cortez (2-0) in a featherweight clash. Additionally, Ovidio Bojorquez (5-3) will take on Jimmie “Jimbo Slice” Pace, Jr. (3-1) in a welterweight showdown, promising an action-packed night of fights for fans.
