The idea of a showdown between Khamzat Chimaev and Conor McGregor continues to tantalize fight fans, though its realization remains uncertain. While the two fighters have yet to lock horns, the possibility lingers on the horizon.
Chimaev, affectionately known as 'Borz', recently ventured into the middleweight division for his last bout against Kamaru Usman. Meanwhile, McGregor has been dropping hints about a potential move to the 185-pound weight class. Does this hint at a potential collision course?
The Chechen fighter expressed his confidence in securing a first-round finish if pitted against 'The Notorious'. Despite McGregor's dual championship reigns in the lightweight and featherweight divisions, Chimaev remains undaunted, asserting his superiority.
"Everyone wants to fight with this guy, man. He is not that high level guy for me. Would be easy for me to take him down and finish him first round. . . I’m different level man. I’m too big for him," Chimaev declared.
However, logistical hurdles have hindered the realization of this much-anticipated matchup. McGregor is currently slated to face Michael Chandler in his next bout, with the two also serving as team captains on The Ultimate Fighter. Moreover, Chandler's potential bout with McGregor has kept him on the sidelines.
