Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov notes that the time of Tony Ferguson is up. Khabib noted the same during his recent interview with UFC Russia and noted that Tony is only fighting for money at this moment.
He had earlier noted the same about Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson. The Russian doubled down on his opinion about Ferguson last day and also took a jab at the tax laws in California.
“His time is up, and there’s no way to get it back. Not Khabib, not Tony, nobody. We had our time, and it passed. He continues to fight. He needs money. You have to pay your bills in the U.S., and I’m sure that since he’s a Californian, I know all the Californian fighters – everything he earned, take half of that. I think he keeps fighting for money to pay bills, taxes. He has a family, I think he has two kids. I don’t blame him, but you can’t get back time. When your time goes away it doesn’t ask your name,” Khabib said in the interview (h/t MMA Junkie).
Khabib and Ferguson were scheduled to fight on multiple occasions in the past but the fight never went through. Ferguson tried calling out the former champion multiple times but the efforts went in vain as Khabib retired after his win against Justin Gaethje.
Khabib moved on as a coach and a promoter outside of fighting when Ferguson has been on a forgettable run. His last fight came against Nate Diaz in which he was submitted by Diaz.
