Did you know that Shavkat Rakhmonov was cornered by the great Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov for one of his MMA bouts?

Well, footage of Shavkat training with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Abdulamanap Nurmagomedov has now poked up on the internet after the Kazakh fighter secured his 17th straight win at UFC 285.

Shavkat, went up against Geoff Neal on the pay-per-view and delivered a dominant performance. He showcased his striking skills throughout the fight and silenced his doubters who claimed that he was only reliant on wrestling.

Interestingly, Geoff Neal was overweight for the fight and the same had no impact as Shavkat secured a submission in the third round to remain undefeated. The submission came via a rare standing rear naked choke which further added an icing to the cake.

With the win, Shavkat is now 17-0 in professional MMA with all his 17 wins coming via either submission or stoppage meaning that he has a 100% finish rate in the sport of MMA.

While the greatness of Shavkat and his interactions with Laura Sanko were the centre of attention this weekend during the UFC 285 fight week, some people also reminded that Shavkat used to train with Khabib and Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

“Rare footage of Khabib teaching Shavkat Rakhmonov. Rakhmonov was cornered by Khabib's father in his MMA debut,” a Tweet noted along with footage of Shavkat training with Abdulmanap and Khabib as you can see below.

While the start power of Shavkat is on the rise, the UFC star also made some interesting statements last day where he noted that he can beat the likes of Islam Makhachev, Kamaru Usman, Leon Edwards, Tyson Fury, Khazmat Chimaev and Mike Tyson. The only exception that he gave in the list presented to him was Francis Ngannou.
