Kavin Kopperunko Wins Gold at AJP's Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship 2025

Young Indian grappler Kavin Kopperunko added another major title to his growing list of achievements by winning the gold medal at the AJP's Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship 2025 held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Kavin competed in the U16 40 kg category and delivered a dominant performance.

In the semifinals, Kavin submitted local favourite Hamad Mohammed Almessabi of the UAE with a slick armbar. He continued his impressive run in the final, defeating Daniel Murat from Kazakhstan with a triangle-to-armbar submission combination to secure the gold.

This victory adds to Kavin’s already impressive resume. At the IMMAF Youth MMA World Championships, he earned three wins in the Youth C division, including two submissions via armbar, before losing in the quarter-finals. He also previously won double gold at the NAGA Championship in Germany and captured the top spot at the 2025 ADCC Amateur World Championship in Poland.

Kavin trains under elite Dagestani coaches at Dagestan Top Team Dubai and JSJ Academy Dubai. At just 13 years old, his technical skills and determination continue to set him apart on the international stage.
