Nishant Dev scores first-round knockout of Cesar Diaz, improves to 7-0

Indian boxer Nishant Dev continued his impressive rise in the professional ranks with a dominant first-round technical knockout victory over Cesar Diaz on Saturday, extending his unbeaten record to 7-0.

Competing on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs. Kristian Prenga event, the super welterweight needed just 2:56 of the opening round to stop Diaz after scoring three knockdowns.

Dev asserted his dominance from the opening bell, dropping Diaz twice early in the round with powerful combinations. After remaining composed and picking his shots, the Indian landed a crushing left uppercut late in the round that sent Diaz to the canvas for a third time. Although Diaz beat the count, the referee determined he was unable to continue and waved off the contest with only four seconds remaining in the first round.

The victory marked Dev's fifth knockout in seven professional bouts, further establishing the 24-year-old as one of India's brightest boxing prospects.

Following the win, Dev reiterated his ambition of making history by becoming India's first professional boxing world champion.

"There's not an Indian boxer from India that's a world champion. So now, I'm going to be shutting their mouths and becoming a world champion," Dev said in his post-fight interview with DAZN.

The former amateur standout has enjoyed a seamless transition to the professional ranks, combining technical precision with growing knockout power. His latest stoppage victory is expected to move him closer to higher-ranked opposition as he continues his pursuit of a world title in the super welterweight division.
