Indian Boxer Chandni Mehra has won the WBC India Super Featherweight title. Chandni defeated fellow Indian boxer, Muskan Srivastava, last day at the Rotary Club - Pune Boxing Fight Night event which was held in Pune.
The event, which was organized by the Rotary Club of Pune Central, had a string of exciting fights on offer. The event was sanctioned by the Indian Boxing Council and supported by Grassroots Boxing Promotions.
The WBC India title fight between Chandni and Muskan was one of the major attractions on the fight card.
Chandni came into the fight on the back of a 9-4 professional MMA record and was fighting out of Haryana. Muskan, on the other hand, represented Madhya Pradesh and was 2-3 in her professional MMA career heading into the fight.
The fight went down at the Indoor Boxing Hall at MIT ADT University in Pune and saw Chandni dominating throughout the eight rounds. In the end, when the judges announced the scorecard, it was in favor of Chandni with a score of 72-80, 71-80, 71 – 80 with all the three judges scoring in favor of Chandni.
With the win, Chandni will now top the Super Featherweight Rankings of the Indian Boxing Council and will be the inaugural WBC India Super Featherweight champion.
Elsewhere, the fight card also had a WBC India title showdown between Sabari J and HC Lalramfela of Mizoram. Sabari, who captured the title back in December last year has been dominant in the division and continued his impressive run with a win over Lalramfela.
With the win, he successfully kept the WBC India Welterweight title with him and improved his record to 8-1.
