Sabari was crowned the first-ever WBC India Champion last day at the Hell’s Bay Boxing Event from The Indian Art Revolution (TIAR) in Hyderabad. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Sabari went up against Patiala’s Akashdeep Singh in the co-main event of the show for the WBC India Welterweight Title and secured a decision win to secure the title.
Both Sabari and Akashdeep delivered an excellent performance but it was Sabari that got the edge on the scorecard of the judges and in turn, the title. Sabari came into the bout on the back of a professional record of 4-1 to his name and was riding high on a four-fight winning streak.
Akashdeep, meanwhile, was 8-1 in his professional boxing career prior to the fight and was 4-1 in his last five fights.
The win is expected to be a huge boost for the career of Sabari who made his professional debut back in 2020. Currently managed by Grassroot Boxing Promotions and Management, Sabari thanked everyone who supported him in the post-fight interview.
Elsewhere, in the main event, Karthik Sathish secured the WBC Asia Silver Title with a decision win over Heru Purwanto of Indonesia.

Karthik and Heru went the complete distance in an exciting bout which saw Karthik shift gears in the later rounds. This change of pace proved to be the biggest advantage for him as the judges ruled the fight in favor of him. With the win, Karthik also managed to keep his undefeated professional record intact.
In the post-fight interview, coach and promoter Mujtaba Kamal noted that Professional boxing in India is on a rise and added that more champions will be created from the Indian soil going forward.
