UFC’s return to Macau will feature a significant moment for Indian MMA, as India’s first and only female UFC fighter, Puja Tomar, is set to compete in a featured bout during Road to UFC Season 5.
Tomar (9-5), who hails from Budhana, will take on China’s Shi Ming in a special main event on May 29. Shi Ming, a Road to UFC Season 3 women’s strawweight tournament winner, enters the contest as a rising name in the Asian MMA circuit.
The bout is part of Road to UFC Season 5, scheduled across May 28 and 29, which serves as a pathway for top prospects from the Asia-Pacific region to earn UFC contracts. Each day of Road to UFC Season 5 will be headlined by a special main event featuring standout UFC athletes.

Tomar’s inclusion in a featured main event highlights her growing role within the promotion and marks another milestone for Indian representation in global MMA.
The fight week will conclude with UFC Fight Night: Song vs Figueiredo on May 30 at the Galaxy Arena. The main event will see China’s No. 5 ranked bantamweight Song Yadong face former two-time UFC champion Deiveson Figueiredo.
In the co-main event, light heavyweight contender Zhang Mingyang will take on UFC veteran Alonzo Menifield. The card will also feature multiple international bouts across divisions, including appearances from fighters representing Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Additionally, the event marks the start of a multi-year partnership between the UFC and Galaxy Macau, with plans to host multiple Fight Night events at the venue through 2029.
Tomar’s bout remains a key highlight for Indian fans, as she continues to represent the country on one of MMA’s biggest global platforms.
