Heavyweights Brandon Vera And Amir Aliakbari Collide At ONE 164

Saturday, 3 December, sees ONE Championship return with ONE 164: Pacio vs. Brooks live from the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines.

On the main card, fans will see two heavyweight titans clash when former ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera meets his latest adversary in the Circle, Iranian wrecking machine Amir Aliakbari.

This is a contest that is over two years in the making, dating back to the Iranian’s callout of Vera before he even debuted. Aliakbari vowed to smash Vera’s face when signing with ONE Championship in late 2020.

The war of words ever since then has been relatively one-sided, as Vera preferred to wait for the inevitable meeting between the two divisional hammers to do his talking. This will be the Filipino behemoth’s first fight since losing his World Title to Arjan Bhullar in May 2021.

The former champion will be looking to not only silence his new foe but launch himself back into the title fold. With the heavyweight championship currently at a standstill, a victory over his vocal opposition would speak volumes.

However, the man who will stand adjacent to Vera on 3 December will look to take the biggest scalp of his career against Vera.

After a rocky few first fights in ONE, Aliakbari successfully regained momentum in the heavyweight division when he scored a second-round KO of Italy’s Mauro Cirelli this past summer.

The opportunity awaiting the winner of this fight makes this the biggest outing of both men’s careers.
