Bellator fighter Randi Field is having trouble making weight. Throughout her amateur and professional mixed martial arts career, the Bellator MMA women's Flyweight contender has fought at 115, 120, and 125 pounds. She had no option but to compete as a Flyweight after signing with Bellator MMA in October 2021 because the promotion does not have a Strawweight division.
Speaking at the Media Day ahead of her return at Bellator, Randi noted that she would love to fight at 115 at the promotion.
“Absolutely, I would love to fight at 115. Yes, and I also find the training camps to be less stressful. When I’m fighting at 125, I’m always constantly trying to gain weight. I’ll go take a poop and I’m back at Square 1. So yeah, 115 I’m definitely good at it, and I’m very strong for the division,” she said to the media.
And there is a specific reason why she has trouble cutting weight. Field finds the 115-pound division ideal because, while gaining weight for 125 is difficult, so is losing weight to compete as an Atomweight. And it's one particular part of her body that's holding her back: her butt.
“I would love if Bellator opened up that division because I usually fight at 115 pounds. My only problem making 105 is, this (points to her butt). So that is why I am not at Atomweight fighter,” she added in the interview.
