Abdul Azim Badakhshi to represent Afghanistan at Road to UFC 2

Abdul Azim Badakhshi has been confirmed for Road to UFC 2. The Afghan Lion, who was last seen competing at Matrix Fight Night, will be competing at Featherweight in Road to UFC.

He will be going up against Yi Zha of China at the event which will happen in Shanghai, China. You can see the complete Featherweight bracket for Road to UFC 2 below.

  • Keisuke Sasu (Japan) vs Sang Won Kim (Korea)
  • Yibugele (China) vs Koya Kanda (Japan)
  • Li Kaiwen (China) vs Reza Arianto (Indonesia)

Badakhshi, who currently holds a professional MMA record of 13-3 to his name is currently sitting on a three-fight winning streak.

He last appeared at Matrix Fight Night 8 where he got a decision win over Fabricio Oliveira of Brazil. Prior to this, he had secured a win over Marcelo Guarilha at Matrix Fight Night 7 as well.

The Afghan, however, got into controversy at Matrix Fight Night 9 when he was involved in a post-event brawl which resulted in chaos.

Having made his professional MMA debut back in 2013, Badakhshi has competed across different promotions. He was prominently featured in the Super Fight League and has only one loss in the promotion.

He has also fought in ACB and BRAVE Combat Federation. Prior to his run in MFN, Abdul was competing in BRAVE CF and had secured a win over Agshin Babaev at BRAVE CF 47.

Nicknamed ‘The Afghan Lion’, Badakhshi is known to be a knockout artist with 10 of his 13 wins coming via either TKO or KO. He also has 2 submission wins to his name and only one win in his career came via a decision.
