The much-awaited ONE Championship debut of Team Lakay’s Stephen Loman is set to happen at ONE: Winter Warriors 2 when he fights the number three ranked Yusup Saadulaev. Dagestan’s Saadulaev is someone that has already made his mark in ONE Championship and it would be safe to say that a win against Loman would take him to a much-deserved title shot.
“Absolutely, yes. I expect to be the next contender for the title if I win this fight. For sure,” he said.
At the same time, Saadulaev is well aware of the danger that Loman brings to the table. Although the Team Lakay star is new to ONE Championship, he has plenty of experience to showcase in his resume and has earned the respect of Saadulaev.
“I’ve seen some fights of Loman, and his strengths are that he has explosive attacks, good takedowns, [good] control, and good timing. He’s a pretty good wushu sanda fighter. I don’t see many weaknesses in his game,” Saadulaev noted in his interview with ONE Championship.
The 36-year-old currently holds a professional record of 20-5-1 to his name and is on a three-fight winning streak in ONE Championship. He made his debut in the promotion back in 2016 and has been a force to reckon with in the promotion ever since. The only loss in the promotion for Saadulaev came against Thanh Le back in 2019. He won three back-to-back fights after this and has a clear goal ahead of him.
“I’m still focused on becoming the best bantamweight in ONE Championship and in the world. So, I’m being very professional for this fight,” he concluded.
