ONE: Heavy Hitters is in the books and in the main event of the fight card, Xiong Jing Nan successfully defended the ONE Strawweight title by defeating Ayaka Miura.

The first round saw Xiong Jing Nan in control as she was throwing a lot of combinations while successfully fending off all the takedown attempts from Ayaka. Ayaka pushed for the takedown in the second round as well but the champion showed world-class takedown defense to keep the fight on the foot. Jing Nan had a strong showing in the third round as well when Ayaka was having trouble changing her game plan.

Ayaka has a good amount of cage control early in the fourth round but once things got back in standing position, Jing Nan was looking more comfortable. The opening minutes of the fifth round saw Ayaka attempting takedowns yet again only to see them fail. Jing Nan increased the volume of her punches in the last three minutes of the fight and clearly seemed like the fresher fighter. In the end, the judges ruled the fight in favor of Xiong Jing Nan who retained the title.

Xiong Jing Nan came into the title fight on the back of a two-fight winning streak. She had outclassed Michelle Nicolini in her last fight and before that, she had defeated Tiffany Teo as well. The Chinese MMA star went into the fight with a professional MMA record of 16-2 to her name with one of her losses coming in ONE Championship against ONE Atomweight champion Angela Lee.

Japanese MMA star Ayaka Miura earned her shot at the ONE Strawweight title by defeating Rayane Bastos back in April 2021. She was 4-1 in her last five fights with the only loss coming against Tiffany Teo who then went on to challenge Jing Nan for the title.

ONE: Heavy Hitters was the first fight card of the year 2022 from ONE Championship and saw a string of exciting bouts. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protégé Saygid Izagakhmaev made his promotional debut at the event with an impressive submission win over James Nakashima. An exciting Muay-Thai contest between Supergirl Jaroonsak and Ekaterina Vandaryeva unfolded as well and saw Supergirl taking home a split decision win.
