Marine Pro Boxing Promotions is all set to host the IBA Asia title fight on April 17, 2021, as Vimal Punera will be locking horns with Hansraj in Mumbai.
The 26-year-old Vimal currently has a professional record of 4-1 to his name and is currently riding on a four-fight winning streak. He had made his professional debut back in 2018 against Obedi Maguchi in New Zealand and followed it up with four wins under the Marine Pro Boxing Promotions banner.
Vimal’s last fight came at the Warrior Boxing Series from Marine Pro Boxing Promotions where he secured a first-round TKO victory over Vimal Kumar. Earlier, in an interview, Vimal had revealed that getting the World title is his ultimate goal, and the IBA Asia title fight will be the first major step for the same.
“We have only one thought in our mind which is to become world number one. In today’s time, we need to change our mindsets & think, work, train like Champions. That is the only way to reaching my destination,” he had noted in an interview.
Hansraj, on the other hand, has a record of 2-3-1 to his name and is coming off an impressive win at the Marine Pro Boxing Promotions event which was held back in December. He had defeated Mohit Singh at the event and will be looking to continue his momentum when he steps into the ring to fight Vimal.
Apart from the IBA title showdown, the event will also see Indian boxers Nutlai Lalbiakkima and Sandeep Singh fighting for the IBA Intercontinental title.
Nutlai, who hails from Mizoram, made headlines back in 2018 in the amateur circuit by defeating Olympic Gold Medalist and World Number 1 Hasanboy Dusmatov. He made his professional boxing debut recently at the Warrior Boxing Series hosted by Marine Pro Boxing Promotions and secured a first-round TKO victory as well.
Sandeep Singh, on the other hand, will have an opportunity to pull off a huge upset and become an IBA Champion from India if he stops Nutlai at the event.
