After a short gap, UFC returned last day with a stacked card at UFC Fight Night Vegas. The event was headlined by the welterweight showdown between former champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns.
Burns almost got a stoppage win inside the first minute when he dropped Woodley but the former champion recovered well and steered into the second round cautiously. Woodley had a comparatively better second round but Burns was clearly in the driving seat. The rounds that followed were no different as Burns walked towards a comfortable unanimous decision victory.
In the co-main event, the Heavyweight showdown between Augusto Sakai and Blagoy Ivanov went the complete distance. The fight had a slow pace throughout the three rounds and had split scores according to the judges with the decision going in favour of Sakai.
Mackenzie Dern got her name into the history books when she became the first woman to win a UFC Fight via leg lock submission. She got the submission win over Hannah Cifers in the first round of their fight via a kneebar and improved her MMA record to 8-1.
The fight between Roosevelt Roberts and Brok Weaver also ended in submission as Roberts took home the win via a second-round rear-naked choke.
Billy Quarantillo and Spike Carlyle engaged in an all-out brawl just before the co-main event and gave one of the most entertaining fights of the night. In the end, it was Quarantillo that got the upper hand in the scorecard.
In the prelims, Katlyn Chookagian outclassed Antonion Shevchenko via a unanimous decision when Daniel Rodriguez, Jamahal Hill and Brandon Royval also got wins in their respective fights. Casey Kenney and Chris Gutierrez were the other winners from the fight night.
