After a successful outing with UFC 249, UFC returned on Wednesday night with UFC Jacksonville. The card was headlined by the Light Heavyweight fight between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira when Ovince St. Preux and Ben Rothwell fought it out in the co-main event.
Smith and Teixeira had a very interesting main event. Smith had the upper-hand in the first round but was met with strong resistance from Teixeira in the second.
The waves turned completely in favour of Teixeira in the third as Smith struggled to produce anything useful. The fourth round was no different as Teixeira had the dominant position in the ground for the most part while Smith was barely surviving through the round. The starting of the fifth round proved to be the climax of the showdown as Teixeira took home the win via a TKO.
The Heavyweight move of Ovince St. Preux was met with a huge roadblock in the form of Ben Rothwell who squeezed out a split decision win after three rounds of action. This is the second straight win for Rothwell after he snapped out of a three-fight losing streak.
Drew Dober stopped Alexander Hernandez to secure his third-straight win. The fight was to and fro while it lasted but it was Dober that made most of it and landed a finish in his favour.
The fight between Ricky Simon and Ray Borg proved to be an exciting affair as it went the distance with both fighters having their moment. The judges, in the end, ruled in favour of Simon via a split decision.
Andrei Arlovski secured a much-needed win when he outclassed Philipe Lins via a unanimous decision when Thiago Moises got a submission win over veteran Michael Johnson.
As for the prelims, Sijara Eubanks secured a comfortable win over Sarah Moras in when Brian Kelleher stopped Hunter Azure with a scary knockout. Chase Sherman and Omar Morales also got wins in their resume.
