The promotion will hold four events from Fight Island between July 11 and July 25. The July 11 event will be UFC 251 and it will be headlined by three title fights.

Kamaru Usman will be defending his Welterweight title against Gilbert Burns while Alexander Volkanovski will take on Max Holloway with the UFC Featherweight title on the line. Petr Yan and Jose Also will lock horns with each other for the vacant Bantamweight title as well.

Apart from these three title fights, Dana White also announced the fights between Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade along with Paige VanZant vs. Amanda Ribas.

UFC 251 Fight Card revealed so far:

  • Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns (UFC Welterweight Title)
  • Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max Holloway (UFC Featherweight title)
  • Petr Yan vs. Jose Also (UFC Bantamweight Title)
  • Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade
  • Paige VanZant vs. Amanda Ribas

"We came up with the idea of having fights on 'Fight Island' because we needed a destination to hold international events during the global pandemic. Abu Dhabi has been an amazing location to hold fights over the past 10 years, and it is the perfect place for these events. The infrastructure we are building will be such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the fighters that's never been done before -- from the arena, the private training facility, and the Octagon on the island,  it's going to be an experience that none of us will ever forget. I can't wait to deliver amazing fights from Yas island,” he noted.

UFC is yet to reveal the details of the remaining fight cards. Apart from these fights, UFC also announced the trilogy fight between UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and former champion Daniel Cormier. The fight will happen at UFC 252.

The rivalry between Cormier and Miocic currently stands at 1-1 and the trilogy fight is expected to settle the score once and for all. Interestingly, it might also be the retirement fight of Cormier who has been vocal about the same for a long time.
