Russia has a deep pool of mixed martial arts (MMA) athletes, and one of them is wrestling master Roman Bogatov who signed an exclusive multi-year deal with BRAVE Combat Federation in late 2020 and is set to go for win number two at next week’s BRAVE CF 51: The Future Is Here, which takes place on June 4th.

Currently ranked as the No. 1 Featherweight in Russia with a remarkable professional record of 11-1, Bogatov is never in a boring fight and always remains a threat regardless of the opponent in front of him. To his credit, he has five wins by submission and one via knockout.

With an array of diverse skills in the stand-up department coupled with solid submission grappling credentials, the 30-year-old Orenburg, Russia native put the promotion’s 145-pound weight class on notice when he made his first appearance under the BRAVE CF banner this past January.

At BRAVE CF 46 in Sochi, Russia, Bogatov clinched redemption in the best way possible, outclassing Kazakhstan’s Nurzhan “Bizon” Akishev over the course of three rounds to kickstart his stint in the Bahrain-based MMA outfit on the right foot.

Following a brief run in a North American league during the pandemic, Bogatov believes that through the organization led by His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa and company president Mohammed Shahid, he found a new lease on his prizefighting career.

"I was in a promotion that is considered the best organization in the world, and believe me, their attitude towards the fighters is not very good,” he shared. “Now, I am fighting in BRAVE CF, which I believe is the best global promotion right now. I see my destiny here and want to become the dominant champion."

Flattered by the warm reception he received in his promotional debut, Bogatov revealed that taking his talent elsewhere is not even an option on the table for him at the moment.

"I love this promotion and its staff as well as its leadership. They do everything for the fighters. I don't see any other ideal promotion for myself, and I plan to stay here for a long time,” he said.

Bogatov has his sights on claiming victory once again inside the BRAVE CF cage at the expense of compatriot and debutant Abdulmutalip Gairbekov on June 4th.

A decisive triumph against Gairbekov could inch Bogatov closer to his dream of getting a crack at the vacant BRAVE CF Featherweight World Championship.
