Former UFC Title contender Paulo Costa praised Russian president Vladimir Putin last day on Twitter amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Costa noted that Putin is not a weak leader like American President Joe Biden or French President Emmanuel Macron in a tweet that was later deleted by the UFC star.

“Vladimir Putin Putin is not a weak leader like Biden or Macron. He’s a former military man who has already been stabbed in the belly and survived. He is another level of a world leader. Do you know another Leader who has the same characteristics past?” Costa wrote.

The Brazilian is 13-2 in his professional MMA career and is coming off two back-to-back losses against Marvin Vettori and Israel Adesanya.

Interestingly, Costa’s fellow UFC Fighter Sean Strickland also had a controversial opinion regarding the Ukraine – Russia conflict. He suggested that Ukraine should surrender to Russia and this comment had caused a lot of debates on social media. Strickland also locked horns with former Light Heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz on the same.

Elsewhere, former MMA Fighter Gina Carano had a completely different take on the issue and said that the ongoing war is a conspiracy.
