A crossover fight card between ONE Championship and UFC has been discussed for a long time now. Many fantasy matches were made up by fans and a string of predictions was put on the table as well.

Recently, during his interview with MMA Junkie Radio, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong was quizzed about why a crossover card between the two promotions is a great idea, and in addition, he was asked about his predictions as well.

“Neilsen came out with an industry report a couple of months ago naming the biggest sports properties in the world, and it’s only UFC and ONE in the top 10 in the world. The only two combat sports promotions that were there were UFC and ONE, and were neck and neck in terms of viewership numbers. I think we were No. 3 in the world in viewership numbers, and I think UFC was No. 5 or No. 6. But then on digital and social, UFC was No. 4 or 3 and we were No. 4 or 5. The other players are much smaller in terms of viewership metrics. When you do a cross-promotion, it has to make sense not only from a talent perspective but also from a global relevance. We would bring all of Asia as Asia’s largest promotion,” he noted. (H/T MMA Junkie)

Chatri further went on to add that the fighters from ONE Championship is bound to do good in the Lighter Weight Classes.

“We would just do it champion vs. champion. ONE vs. UFC, heavyweight all the way down. Male and female. It would be epic. You can imagine a New Year’s Eve event and the whole world would watch. It would just be epic, and I’m sure we’d win some and we’d lose some. But I think it would be very fascinating for fans, and I’m highly, highly confident, especially lightweight and below, that we would dominate. And I’m sure Dana would be highly confident that his heavyweights and light heavyweights would dominate. I don’t think it’s a walk in the park by any means. I think there would be some incredible, incredible battles and some incredible finishes. That would be my dream,” he added.
