Chatri Sityodtong talks about the future of Aung La N Sang in ONE Championship

ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong sat down with Nick Atkin of SCMP MMA recently for a candid interview and while talking about a string of topics related to ONE, Chatri went on to discuss the future of former Two Division champion Aung La N Sang.

Aung La N Sang and Yushin Okami have been engaged in a to and fro social media exchange recently but apparently, it is not a fight that interests Chatri. He noted that he would rather go with the trilogy showdown between Aung La and Vitaly Bigdash.

“I’m not that excited about that fight, to be honest. That would be kind of a snooze fest kind of fight. I also don’t know what is the reason for that fight other than the fact that Yushin called Aung La N Sang out. That’s not a good enough reason to put together a fight. I want to put together an exciting fight which the fans want to see, one they love and one that drives massive TV ratings obviously. I think Bigdash vs. Aung La N Sang III, I think that could make some interesting outing and their fighting styles are exciting so I think that can make things exciting,” he said during the interview.

Chatri further went on to add that Aung La N Sang might not get a quick title shot against Reinier De Ridder while adding that De Ridder might have to defend his title first.

“He also wants to Jiu-Jitsu and his wrestling before he faces Reinier De Ridder again and of course we want to see Reinier defending again, right? He had a very tough time against Ataides. I thought Ataides won but obviously, the judges saw it differently and the fact that Aung La defeated Ataides and Reinier struggled against Ataides makes an interesting story as well. Let’s see Reinier defend,” he added.
